Discussion points
- Did you know Latin is an ancient language used in Ancient Rome? Many of the words we use today originated from Latin. For example, 'semi-', meaning ‘half’ in Latin, is a prefix used in English for 'semicircle' and 'semifinal'.
Teaching tips:
After completing the activity, get children to write the words in their plural forms so they can see how the words change from singular to plural. Children could use a dictionary to find definitions of any unknown words in this activity.
