My senses
Drag the labels into position then use 'Mark' to find out if you're right.
Discussion points
- Which part of our body do we use to taste?
- What of the senses do we use our nose for?
- What would we use to feel something?
Teaching tips:
Use this activity to develop understanding of the senses and associated body parts, whilst also practising word reading. When adding labels, ask children which part of the body they are labelling. Also discuss examples of the ways in which we use our senses everyday, e.g. our tongue helps us to taste and recognise foods.
This topic area provides opportunities to develop the skills required to work scientifically. Provide children with a range of items and encourage them to use their senses to explore them. Or, compare indoor and outdoor environments. Ask them to identify which sense and which body part they are using throughout this exploratory process.
Also see Parts of the face - simple and Parts of the face for additional word reading and anatomy practice within this topic area.
