Fun, two, three, four
Use the turn stile to let the right number of yellow monsters through for the number of empty seats on the ride.
If you let too many through, touch or click a monster and it will walk away. Touch or click the pink man to allow them onto the ride. There are settings to control the question type and the maximum number of seats.
Teaching tips:
Encourage children to count the numbers out loud as they go. Model using the stem sentence: ‘One, two, three. There are three seats in total.’
Use with ‘Fun, two, three, four: Worksheets’.

For seat numbers up to five, encourage children to subitise before counting the monsters on. If appropriate, ask children what number bonds or doubles they can see when there are two carriages on the track.
Use with ‘Fun, two, three, four: Worksheets’ or, for more practice subitising, play ‘Quantity street’.

Develop mathematical reasoning skills by using the following questions prompts: How many monsters do you need to send back? Why? How do you know that you have chosen the correct number of monsters? How many more/fewer monsters do you need? Can you show me the same problem using counters?
