British Isles jigsaw
Put the pieces into the correct places. If you need a bit of extra help, use the lightbulb clue button.
Discussion points
- Which four countries make up the United Kingdom?
- What are the capital cities of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
- Which seas surround the United Kingdom?
- What do you notice about the size of each country?
Teaching tips:
Use the activity settings to change the labelled information presented on completion of the jigsaw. Choose between: 'None', 'Capitals' and 'capitals and island groups'.
Before completing the jigsaw, ask children where they think each piece might go? How do they know? Draw attention to the seas already labelled.
Discuss each label once complete. Children could use atlases to examine these in more detail.
Use with ‘Map of UK and Ireland flags’ to match the flag to the country. Or with ‘Regions of England jigsaw’ or the ‘Counties of central, northern and southern England’ to learn more about the regions and counties of the UK.
